Today's naptime story:
mom: "Once upon a time, there was a family of four... beetles."
Evie: "No! Horses!"
mom: "Oh yeah, sorry. Once upon a time, there was a family of four horses."
Evie: "Yay! That's what I wanted!"
mom: "Every day, the horses played in the meadow, ate grass, and drank
water out of the pond. One day, Baby horse looked at the farmer and
said, "I feel that I am getting a little tired of only water. Do you
have anything else to drink?" And the farmer said, "You're in luck,
Chuck. This is a magic pond, and tomorrow it will be filled with
something amazing to drink." So that night after dinner, the horses
went into the barn to put on their jammies. "I wonder what the pond
will have in it tomorrow!" said Mommy horse."
Evie: "Maybe soda! Or maybe tea! Or maybe coffee and poop sauce!"
mom: "Yum! When they woke up the next morning, the horses all ran down
to the pond to drink something delicious that wasn't water. It was..."
Evie: "SOUP! And they drink it with straws!"
And then she collapsed into fits of laughter at the thought of horses
drinking soup through straws. And then she told me that my face smells
like stinky seaweed, which brought on the laughs and snorts and
uncontrollable giggles from us both while we lay in bed together.
